Newsletter July 2003 Over half way through the year! Time does fly when you are busy. And we have been busy. Our callback facility has really taken off with over 3000 people using it last month alone. The drivers like it, and more importantly, our customers like it. How does it work? The computer that books your journey holds your phone number. When the driver arrives outside, he presses a button that tells the computer to ring your number. When you hear the phone ring twice your taxi has arrived. No need to answer, just walk out the door. Will the driver know my phone number? No, it’s all done by computer technology, and only the computer knows what number to ring. All the driver does is activate the callback with a simple button press. Does it work on mobiles? Yes. In fact it’s best feature is that if you set your mobile to read “Taxi Outside” against the phone number, you will receive written confirmation on your phone when the cab arrives. Especially useful for noisy pubs as you are contacted directly instead of the driver tying to find you. Again, no need to answer, just walk out the door. In a restaurant? No problem! In fact you can enjoy your coffee right up until the taxi arrives. Intercom not working? No problem! Just listen for the phone.
